Heart Rate Monitors
Maximize your Tonal workout by tracking your heart rate. Tonal supports real-time heart rate tracking with Bluetooth heart rate monitors so that you can challenge yourself better and reach your fitness goals faster. Once paired, the trainer displays your heart rate during a workout. Follow the steps below to connect your heart rate monitor to Tonal.
Have an Apple Watch? Tonal also pairs with Apple Watch to track your heart rate.
While Tonal does not support pairing with most fitness watches and heart rate monitors using ANT+ wireless communications, newer devices that support a Heart Rate Monitor mode (such as Fitbit Charge 6 and Google Pixel Watch 3) are compatible with Tonal.
Steps to Pair Bluetooth Heart Rate Monitor
Before attempting to pair with Tonal, make sure you follow any instructions from the device manufacturer regarding pairing and general use.
1. Swipe down from the top of the trainer to open the Settings menu.
2. Select the Bluetooth icon.
3. In the pop-up menu, make sure Bluetooth is turned ON.
4. Tap Pair Bluetooth Device.
5. Under “Heart Rate Monitor”, tap the name of your heart rate monitor to connect. Tonal will automatically detect nearby Bluetooth devices.
6. After successfully pairing your heart rate monitor, you’ll see a checkmark next to your device under “Paired Devices”.
The trainer will automatically show real-time heart rate data during a workout.
If your heart rate monitor isn’t in range or is turned off, the on-screen heart rate value is displayed as "--". Tap on the heart rate display to see the steps of making your Heart Rate Monitor discoverable.
Heart Rate Tracking During Partner Workouts
You can connect an Apple Watch or an additional heart rate monitor during partner workouts to track your and your partner’s heart rates independently.
Ensure you sign in to the correct accounts before initiating the pairing process. Tonal will prompt you to assign the paired devices to their respective accounts.
