Uninstalling Your Tonal Trainer

Follow these steps to safely uninstall your Tonal Trainer from the bracket:

  1. Use the silver button on the arms to set the column rotation to any position. Ensure the column is locked in place, meaning the arms are unable to change position until the button is pressed again.

  2. Use the silver lever on each arm to lower the angle so that the arms lay flat against the column to ensure the arms are stowed to the column.

  1. Power Tonal off with the rocker switch located on the bottom.

  2. Unplug the cord from Tonal and the outlet. Set aside since you will need it for the next steps!

  3. Remove handles from the arm (if attached) and prepare to package them. Remember that in order to safely remove handles, push in and turn counter-clockwise.

  4. Remove all 12 side bolts (6 from each side) using either a 4mm AIlen Wrench if it’s a button head screw or a 10mm Hex Socket if it's a hex head bolt. Please dispose of these responsibly once removal is complete, we will send you new side bolts with your Tonal Relocation Kit!

If the side bolts are stripped or damaged and cannot be removed please call 855-MY-TONAL and we will be happy to help.

  1. Unmount Tonal off the bracket.

  • Place one hand on the bottom of Tonal and the other at the top of the column on the back side.

  • With two people, remove the Tonal from the bracket by lifting straight up, then away from the wall.

  1. Place the Tonal with the bottom side closest to the outlet.

  1. Plug in the unit and power it on to be able to unlock the arms.

  • Once the unit is powered on, click on the button to rotate the arm column towards the stow position, this should bring it into an unlocked state.

  • Ensure that the arm column remains unlocked after powering off the unit, otherwise this step will have to be repeated.

  • Remove the batteries from the arms before proceeding to the next step.

  1. Zip tie the Arm to the column. We recommend using a zip tie that is 12” or longer in order to wrap around the column successfully.

  • Once secure, rotate the arm column to the fully stowed position. The arm should click in one place.

  1. If you have the Tonal Trainer box:

  • Lay the box in front of your Tonal with the end labeled “HEAVY” facing the wall.

  • Open the box and remove the top layer of cardboard—this should have a layer of foam attached.

  • Lift Tonal off the bracket with a partner and carefully place it in the box with the top end towards the wall.

  1. If you don’t have the Tonal Trainer box:

  • Please see the “How to Package Your Trainer” section below.

Uninstalling Your Tonal Safety Tethers

Follow these steps to safely uninstall the safety tethers from the bracket and the wall.

  1. Remove the bolts, washers, and retaining rings holding the safety tethers to the wall using a 10mm socket. Remove the safety tethers from the wall.

  2. Remove all four anchors from the wall.

Uninstalling Your Tonal Bracket

Follow these steps to safely uninstall your Tonal bracket from the wall:

  1. Using a ratchet or 7/16” socket, remove all bolts from the bracket. You can use a drill too but we suggest using a ratchet and socket.

  1. Remove the bracket from the wall and lay on top of the moving blankets. Your original installation could have been performed with different hardware depending on your stud type.

  • If you have wood studs: Remove lag bolts and dispose of them responsibly. We will send you new hardware with your Tonal Relocation Kit!

  • If you have metal studs: Remove the bolts and push the anchors into the wall. Discard the bolts, we will send you new ones with your Tonal Relocation Kit!

  • If you have concrete studs: Remove the bolts and discard them, we will send you new ones with your Tonal Relocation Kit!

How to Package Your Trainer

If you kept the original box that your Tonal arrived in, we recommend using the box for your upcoming move. Alternatively, you can wrap the trainer securely with bubble wrap and heavy moving blankets.

Tonal can be packaged and handled in a similar fashion as large screen TVs. Make sure that the Tonal display faces up (flat on its back) during transport. To avoid damage to your Tonal, do not stack any items on top of the trainer.

Please consult with your moving company on packaging instructions—how to repackage your trainer for transport or secure packaging materials for our installers to use. If you have additional questions regarding how to package your Tonal, our team is happy to help!
