Tonal for Renters
Just because you’re renting your home doesn’t mean you can’t get in on all the strength training action Tonal has to offer. Tonal can be easily installed in apartments and rented houses as long as it meets our installation requirements.
The bracket that holds Tonal is secured into the studs of your wall with 8 bolts. Securing it to the studs enables us to perform installation on different kinds of walls.

Do I need to leave my Tonal behind if I decide to move to another apartment/house?
No, Tonal moves with you! When you’re moving all we ask is that you contact us at least three weeks in advance by calling us at 855-MY-TONAL. We’ll work with you to determine the best options for your move.
There is a relocation charge to cover the cost of materials and disassembling and re-installing Tonal. The exact charge amount may vary based on the details of the move, and we’ll always provide full transparency on options available to limit any additional costs. How big are the holes drilled to install Tonal?
Our team needs to drill three ½” inspection holes to confirm the stud type and location. Don’t worry! These will be totally covered by Tonal once it’s installed.
They may also need to cut a 4” by 4” section out of the wall to confirm whether there is plumbing or electrical behind the installation space. Rest assured, our installation team will always discuss this with you before they do it. Otherwise, they’ll ask you about your secondary installation location.

To install your Tonal, the installers drill 8 additional small holes using a ½” drillbit to attach the mounting bracket to the wall. If you ever need to uninstall your Tonal, the holes should be no bigger than ½” wide.
Can I fix the wall after uninstalling my Tonal?
Yes! It’s fairly easy to spackle and repaint the 8 holes, and you can get these supplies from any hardware store.
What can I use to patch my walls?
You can use any drywall spackling/patch kit available at a hardware store or online. You can also find some special patch kits if you have a concrete wall.
Do I need to request permission to install Tonal in my apartment from my landlord?
Maybe. This decision entirely depends on you and your landlord. Our team is more than happy to walk your landlord through the installation process that we perform with Tonal.
What can I do if I live in an apartment/ condo and my building management needs a Certificate of Insurance for Tonal installation?
When a building or purchasing party requires a Certificate of Insurance to install Tonal, our installation partner provides the certificate directly. The certificate typically takes less than 3 business days for us to request on your behalf, and it’s emailed to you directly. You can apply for it by selecting “installation process and requirements” under request type and adding COI in the description.
