Live Workouts
Experience our specially curated Live workouts from the comfort of your home! Our interactive Live workouts are broadcast directly to your Tonal. They combine the motivating atmosphere of in-person classes with exclusive Tonal features like dynamic weight modes, personalized recommendations, and coaching cues. During a Tonal Live workout, you can train in real-time with our strength and fitness coaches and the Tonal Community, just like an in-person class!
Ways to Experience Live Workouts
There are three different ways to experience Live workouts:
Live - With this experience, you can work out in real-time with the coach and the Tonal community, and get the opportunity to cheer other members in the social zone.
Live Encore - Encore workouts are previously aired Live workouts that are rescheduled at a later date for you to take Live alongside other Tonal members.
On Demand - The on-demand workouts are perfect if you like training at your own pace. All Live workouts are available on demand within 24 hours in the Tonal workout library.
Exploring Live Workouts
You can explore all the scheduled Live workouts on your trainer and mobile app home screen under the Upcoming Live Workouts row.
You can also find it in the Explore screen under the Workouts tab.


To get a complete schedule of all the upcoming Live workouts, click on the Full Live Schedule on the top right corner of the Live tile.
For each class, you can view the following workout details so you can plan which one you’d like to join:
Time of the Live session - Date and time of the Live workout session.
Live States - Current state of the workout- Upcoming, Starting soon, Live, Encore, On Demand, Canceled.
Type of workout - Strength or High Intensity
Duration - Total duration of the Live workout.
Coach - Name of the coach hosting the Live workout.
Fitness Level - Beginner, intermediate or advanced.

Signing Up for Upcoming Live Workouts
You can sign up for live workouts two weeks in advance! This means next time you see the schedule for Live workouts and don’t want to miss out, you can sign up right away! And, it can be done in 2 easy steps:
1. Go to the Explore screen on your trainer or the Tonal mobile app and open the live schedule.

Tap the workout you’re interested in and click on Sign Up.
Once you have signed up successfully, you will see a confirmation on the bottom of the workout details page!
If your notifications for workout reminders are enabled on the Tonal mobile app, then you will receive a push notification 15 minutes before the workout so you can get ready to flex and sweat!

If you’re looking to enable these notifications, do the following:
1. Open to the Tonal mobile app.
2. Click on your profile on the top right corner of the homescreen.
3. Tap Push Notifications.
4. Toggle the Workout Reminders button to receive notifications.
How to Join a Live Workout
Follow these steps to join a Live workout:
Click on the Live workout you want to perform and select Join Workout. Make sure you join on time.
Before the workout begins, you will enter the waiting room where you will be able to see a list of all the other members training with you.
Once the workout begins, you will be able to see the coach live from the studio! (Only you can see the coach. The coach or any other members cannot see you.)
View the workout stats that include your heart rate, personal volume, participant count, and group volume at the top of your screen.
Right below the workout stats is the social zone that reflects the profile icons of all the other members in the workout. You can double tap on each profile icon to see their PRs, milestones, birthdays, Tonal anniversaries, and cheer them.
After wrapping up, you can view the workout summary that shows all the participants and the total volume lifted by the group!You can also click on view all to see the participant list, cheers received/given, milestones earned, PRs, and follow other members who joined this workout with you.
If you are joining a Live workout late, you can only join up to 15 minutes after it has already started. You will see the following message displayed when joining late:

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of workouts will be Live?
There are two training types for Live workouts at this time - Strength and Power HIIT
Strength is like other strength workouts on Tonal but the coach and other members of the Tonal Community will be working out with you live. Power HIIT is a new concept developed for Live workouts to create an energetic, high-intensity group class experience with the goal of unleashing your power inside and out. They will consist of 2-3 blocks, with one block being a “Power Block” where the goal will be to increase your power output and hopefully reach a new power PR.What can I expect in a Live workout?
In a Tonal Live workout you will be working out alongside your favorite coach in real-time. They will be sweating along with you and coaching you with pacing cues, verbal form feedback and shoutouts! Tonal will set the optimal weight for every move and the smart features will check your form in real time.What is the Social Zone?
The Social Zone is at the top of the screen during a Live workout. It shows all other members that are participating in the workout. You can see a spotlight of members' activities as they achieve PR’s and milestones and get cheered or cheer on achievements through double tapping their profile icon.What happens if I miss a Live workout?
If you miss a Live workout, it will be available on demand within 24 hours in the Tonal workout library or you can catch the Encore workout that will air within the next few days.What should I do if I’m unable to access Live workouts on my Tonal?
-Check if your trainer is on the most up-to-date software/firmware version.
-If it’s on the most up-to-date version and you’re still unable to access it, logout and sign-in again. Contact us at 855-MY-TONAL if the steps above don’t work.What should I do if my pace is slower than the coach's instructions?
The coaches will provide proper queues for you to stay on pace with the workout, but there will always be time to catch up on a few extra reps if you need to. Here are a few tips:
-Choose a Live workout at your level as the pace for Live is generally faster than other Tonal programs.
-Many Live workouts are duration based where the goal is to perform as many reps in the time allotted as you can - so you can go at your own pace.
If you still find the pace too fast, try a Live On Demand workout which are previously aired Live workouts with Tonal’s intelligent ability to wait for you to complete each set.Will the coach be able to see me during the workout?
The camera on Tonal is not enabled yet and therefore the coach or any other member training with you will not be able to see you. They will only be able to see your workout progress, PRs and milestones to be able to give you shoutouts throughout the workout.How long are Live workouts?
All Live workouts vary in length but are generally between 30-40 mins. Workout length will be shown in the Live schedule on Tonal or in the Tonal mobile app.Can two people do a live workout together on the same Tonal like partner workouts?
No, only one person can do a Live workout at a time on the same Tonal. Since the workout is streaming live, there is only time for one person's reps.Would I be able to do a Live workout on my mobile app?
Live workouts are currently not available on the Tonal mobile app.
